We are seeking a Sr. Engineering Manager passionate about defining, executing, and scaling enterprise-wide projects for a consumer-facing application that is used by half a million customers daily. The right candidate will want to be a teacher, and a leader of the Digital team, ensuring projects are balancing the right technology, business, process, and people needs ensuring that the end results delight customers while growing the team to the next level.  

Responsibilities

As our Sr. Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Lead Digital (Self Service) Web team to deliver customer delight and resiliency for millions of customers across several brands and private label customers.
  • Be able to lead the team during an exciting phase of re-writing using new technology stack - React leveraging common services that are developed for both Web and Mobile (counter React Native).
  • Technology Owner with high visibility. Partnership with Architect, Product Owner, Design Team, and Business stakeholders Is crucial to be successful in this role.
  • Inspire, mentor, and set expectations for team members to deliver the best experiences for customers.
  • Make sure the team has clear priorities and adequate resources.
  • Ensure processes, best practices and technical strategies are carried out.
  • Assure code meets functional requirements and quality standards.
  • Consider business priorities and appropriately optimize approach.
  • Continually improving the output of the team, working with the team to find ways to improve outcomes and deliver value.
  • Working with technical leads to making architecture and technical solution design decisions.
  • Facilitate daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming (shared with Product Owner).
  • Manage technical and delivery risk, proactively escalating and proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Address challenges and propose solutions to issues shared across teams.
  • Perform basic line management responsibilities such as PTO approval, performance reviews, etc.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject, or combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of Eight (8) years of hands-on development experience in Web, Mobile and/or Backend services. Background in React will be a huge plus. Insights and interest In using Generative AI technologies is an added bonus and a great opportunity.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in a leadership position.
  • Strong track record of successfully delivering software projects on time.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple programming languages, frameworks, and paradigms.
  • Knowledge and practical experience applying software quality principles and practices.
  • Understanding of automated test frameworks.
  • Experience supporting production applications and services.
  • Financial Services industry experience.
